On August 8, 2026, football became more than a game. Young players, community members, health workers and supporters gathered for Kick It for WASH—an energetic day connecting sport with clean water, health education and community well-being.
From the opening whistle through the final matches, the pitch was alive with teamwork, determination and joy. Boys’ and girls’ teams competed, encouraged one another and gave the community plenty of memorable moments. Yet the day’s purpose reached well beyond the scoreboard.
Learning between the matches
Between games, important conversations continued. Mental-health sessions helped build awareness, challenge stigma and remind participants that trustworthy information is an essential part of a healthy community. The tournament also created a natural setting for talking about clean and safe water—reaching people through an activity they already know and love.
Health services within reach
Community health screenings brought practical care directly to the event. Alongside the football, attendees could receive basic checks and screening for common health concerns. Bringing these services into a welcoming community gathering helps make care more approachable and connects education with immediate action.
One field, one connected message
The video captures the spirit of the day: competition and celebration working hand in hand with learning and service. Clean water, good health and informed communities reinforce one another. When young people have a safe place to play, learn and connect, the effects can travel far beyond a single tournament.
We are grateful to the Rotary partners, individual donors, volunteers, health teams, coaches, players and community members who helped make Kick It for WASH possible. Your partnership turns a day on the pitch into an educational platform with the potential to encourage healthier choices for years to come.
