Love in Action: Serving Alongside the Kibera Community

In Kibera, meaningful service begins with listening.

The community is filled with knowledge, creativity and determination. Our role at The Centre of Love Foundation is to work alongside local leaders, families and partner organizations—supporting practical solutions that protect dignity and create room for opportunity.

Meeting essential needs with care

Clean water, safe sanitation, nutritious food and health education are not separate concerns. Together, they shape whether a child can focus in school, whether a parent can care for a family and whether a community can face the future with greater confidence.

Our service work responds to these connected realities. We support water, sanitation and hygiene initiatives; provide nutritional and family assistance; and help expand access to education and vocational training. Each program is grounded in a simple principle: people should be treated as partners in their own future.

Skills that open new possibilities

Service is not only about meeting an immediate need. It is also about helping create pathways that remain long after a particular project or visit has ended.

Through vocational learning and practical mentorship, women and young adults can develop skills that support income, independence and leadership. Every lesson learned, product completed and connection made represents something larger—the opportunity to make choices and contribute to a stronger community.

Service rooted in relationship

Our work is made possible by people who believe that compassion should lead to action. Volunteers, donors, board members and community partners each bring something valuable, but lasting progress depends on humility. We come ready to listen, to learn and to support priorities identified by the people who understand Kibera best.

This is what love in action looks like: not a single moment of help, but a growing relationship built through trust, accountability and shared purpose.

There is always more work ahead. There is also tremendous reason for hope. Every clean-water initiative, shared meal, training session and community partnership brings us one step closer to a future in which more people can thrive with dignity.

We invite you to be part of that work.
