TCOLF in Action: Service, Partnership and Dignity in Kibera

What does love look like in action? In Kibera, it looks like neighbors, volunteers and partners bringing their skills together to meet essential needs and create lasting opportunity.

TCOLF In Action offers a window into this shared work. The video highlights a simple but powerful idea: meaningful service begins with relationship. By listening, learning and working side by side, people can strengthen the community resources that help children, women, young people and families thrive.

Essential services are connected

Clean water, sanitation, nutrition and education are not separate challenges. Each one affects health, safety and a person’s ability to learn or earn a living. The video shows how TCOLF and its partners approach these needs together—from access to purified water and hygiene education to food programs, mentorship and educational support.

Skills that strengthen independence

Long-term change also means creating pathways toward self-sufficiency. Sewing and other vocational training can help women and young adults develop practical skills, pursue income and build greater stability for themselves and their families. These programs recognize the talent that already exists in the community and help turn it into opportunity.

Service built on relationship

TCOLF connects people in Kenya and the United States through service and immersion experiences. Churches, schools, service organizations, families and friends are invited to contribute, but also to listen and learn. These encounters can deepen cross-cultural understanding and reveal the gifts, knowledge and leadership already present within Kibera.

Dignity at the centre

Across every program is a commitment to dignity: creating safe and welcoming spaces, supporting healthy living and helping people shape their own futures. This is what it means to touch hearts, teach minds and transform lives—not through a single act, but through faithful partnership over time.
